Something as common as a car breakdown, an illness, a divorce, death or the loss of a job can create havoc on a family’s budget.

Differing situations such as low wages or being a single parent can cause the need to seek help.

The Dickson County Help Center provides temporary assistance for Dickson County Residents in crisis with faith, hope, love and dignity.

If you find yourself in a critical situation, DCHC is here to help.

How to Apply

Step 1: Call Us

To receive assistance, call us at 615-441-0076, Monday through Thursday between 9am and noon.

Step 2: Eligibility Requirements

Required documents to receive assistance:

Proof of Dickson County Residency which can be substantiated with a utility bill, lease, driver’s license, state identification, or any other official document (for example a current lease) that denotes residency.

Proof of Income such as a recent pay stub, SSI – disability letter, past year tax return, bank statement, letter from employer, Social Security letter, copy of checks, etc. is required. 

Personal Identification can be substantiated by providing any of the following including a valid and current driver’s license, state identification, passport, photo work ID, photo student ID, or an IRS issued W7 card.

Requirements for Financial Aid:

For utility assistance, provide the most recent bill or cut off notice. Bill must be in your name and if not, provide a signed statement from the person whose name is on the bill, stating that they are seeking assistance and live at said address.

For prepaid accounts, you MUST provide a current “My Usage” statement from Dickson Electric Service.  

For rental/mortgage assistance, you must provide a lease or statement AND your late notice.

For medication assistance, you must provide a current prescription. We can only assist with maintenance medications that are needed such as, but not limited to, blood pressure, hormone, diabetes, cholesterol, etc. WE DO NOT ASSIST WITH PAIN MEDICATIONS, CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES or NARCOTICS.

DCHC DOES NOT assist with cell phone service, car or furniture payments.
